Each year, the province of Córdoba (Argentina) suffer the onslaught of forest fires. The fragile ecological balance, the rapid decline of native forests, water scarcity and soil degradation, require our immediate attention.
Our purpose is to investigate the consequences that this devastation brings to nature, social, cultural and economic factors of the region

The project

The Path

In August 2009, visiting Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, we had to live a truly strong experience. Throughout the trip, from Córdoba Capital, we could see columns of smoke rising from the mountains, but we could not imagine what we were going to witness hours later.
Leave the house and see the fire devouring all, a few hundred meters from where you are, see the desperation and fear of theneighbors and the courage and commitment of the firefighters andcivilian volunteers who do not lie to put out the fire, it opens your eyes to a much larger reality than you might imagine.
We always felt terrible about the theme of fire and forest destruction, but never had throbbed so closely. Those things make you take responsibility. So We decided to start with "Cenizas".

In principle, our idea was to bring our experience to the largest possible audience. We were concerned that the mainstream media would reflect only the subject from the "spectacular" fire, without delving into the problem seriously. On the other hand, we saw ourselves as inhabitants of the city which, despite having the mountains so close, we have the unconscious sense that this does not affect us, and only regret the loss of forests as decorative. In these cases we break, with every intention of making a documentary about the fire in the hills of Cordoba.

But it happened what always happens when you start down a path without knowing how long it is. What ought to be in six months, we found it in a year. We arrived after a year where we should have arrived three months before ... and this is because we understood that a tree is part of a forest, and all things depend on this forest.

Thus, the initial idea grew, What we knew was very little in relation to what we should know. It was a long road of learning and discovery, we feel the heat of the fire, our eyes ware irritated with the ashes, our throats with the smoke ... often wanted to scream with indignation and impotence, but we went ahead, because we also found in our way to many people involved, of great value, which gave us invaluable support, and we understood that their efforts, which we enjoy without knowing it, should not remain anonymous.

The Goal

Since we took the first step, we always had one thing clear: Everyone should know what we are learning.

Our goal is to disseminate as much information as possible about these issues, share knowledge that, unfortunately, today only some people possess. But we also want to convey a message that claims to those few who fight for what belongs to all, who leave their lives to defend life. And this is what represents the forest, soil, air and water: LIFE.
For all these reasons we decided from the outset, that our work will be available to everyone, that anyone can have it, spread it, share it, show it. Our intention is to collaborate with the struggle, since the formation of conscience, from the diffusion of knowledge.

Today we are closer than ever to reaching our goal, to see embodied the fruit of our long walk, and we want to share our experience with everyone.
